turbo removal xc or AWD.. reaching the lowr driver nut?

turbo removal xc or AWD.. reaching the lowr driver nut?

tyring to remove a turbo this weekend. have everyline line and fitting off BUT the last nut on the lower drivers side of the turbo. the nut is the lower left (driverside) one between the turbo flange and the exhaust manifold. 13mm nit. how do you get a sockect, wrench, crows foot, etc on this thing? any help would by greatly appreciated. thanks

I spent hours trying to get that same nut out. It's at the most impossible angle. If it weren't for the bevel gear you could get to it.

Never did get it out. I had to pull the bevel gear anyway, so that's how I got to it.

trying not to drop the bevel gear.. if i have to, how long did it take you to remove/replace? thanks

Well, you have to remove the passenger side axle, then pull all the bolts around the gear. I haven't put it back together yet since I pulled the engine.

I'd say you're looking at 2-3 hours at least if you've never done it before.

was able to get to the driver side lower 13mm nut once the passengers halfshaft was gone and pulled the turbo from the top. thanks for the help. :D

I'm going to remember this for future reference. I spent a good 2 hours and every possible angle to get to that one nut.
