Air pump?

Post by taylor s70 »

This thing ran all night and killed the battery. I didn't know what was running until I started pulling fuses/relays. It cut off when I pulled the yellow, square relay that was labeled air pump (main fuse panel under hood). I don't believe that the relay is bad since there is no continuity between any of the four poles. HELP!

The relay that I pulled was in the main fuse box. I have not looked any where else for a different relay. The relay I pulled says HELLA 12V 4RA 003 510-75 on one side and Volvo 9128164 on the other.

Depending on the year you will need to pull the battery and tray to get at the relay on the pump. As I recall it uses sheetmetal clips to hold on the frame. If not there it is near the top of the radiator.

No luck finding the relay other than what I have already found. I got the battery out and mounting plate and saw the pump but no fuses or relays. I tracked a small tube from there up to a mechanism mounted just above the radiator fan, but didn't find any relays or fuses there either. Sounds like I will be heading to the shop with it.
