While accelerating, the air conditioner stops blowing cold air. As soon as I stop accelerating, the air flow returns back to normal. What could possibly be the problem?
My mechanic is troubleshooting a possible vacuum problem.

sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Common place on this year is a vacuum hose at the heater valve. Check that hose and make sure it is not rubbed.

On top of the engine there are 2 check valves on the 2 different vaccuum lines. They'er about the 2 inches long and 1 inch or so in diameter. and probably 1/2 black & 1/2 white. 1 goes to the vaccuum canister that controls the baffles, and the other goes the the temp. sensor in the cabin (you have the automatic climate control?) These valves keep vaccuum in the system when the turbo puts + pressure to the manifold. You can pull these off and blow into them. They should allow air to go through 1 way but not the other.
