I found this volvo in a yunk yard, and i bought it! the engine doesn't work, and it is uncomplete, so I bought it for spare parts.
i'm working on it, trying to get off the dash, seats, everything, i'm using an excellent document that i found here, but i'm having problems loosing the pipes from the evap to the fire wall, i don't have the tool that is required....

Is there another way to release the tubes of the evaporator?
I'm stuck here! I can't pull the dash out, if anyone could send me an advice or maybe another tool, to release the pipes.
Thanks
Oscar

The doughnut shaped part holds a spring that needs to be expanded so you can pull out the pipe. They sell little round plastic tools to push in to open it and they are cheap here. If you put a piece of wire/tubing/whatever in from the firewall side of the doughnut you would be opeing the diameter of the spring. Once wide enough the tube will come out. Ford uses this type of connection for fuel lines -it may be easier to find the tool that way.

I also once did it with a matchbook cover that I wrapped around the tube and shoved into the spring to open it up. It was almost thick enough. it was a side of the road repair.

Why would you want to bother?
NO ONE, I mean no one buys a used evaporator, cut it off and "file it" (trash)
It's probably bad anyway

Curious how hard it is to find parts in Costa Rica and how rare a Volvo is there.

Yes, the people who represent the brand, just take care of the Volvo S series, not the other models, almost everything has to be brought from U.S..
By the way, I have the radio, the serial # is B50493109, how do I get the code to activate it?
Thanks

Usually you have to go to a volvo dealer and ask for the code and they usually ask for the vin num.
