Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Post by X1JPd333 »

my car shut down on me leaving a store, the engine turns over but wont start, check the ingition coils and spark plugs and all DO NOT WORK, i doubt all of the coils would go out at the same time allong with the spark plugs, what could be causing this ingition problem?

Is it possible that your timing belt broke?

Next time it stalls, turn the key to II and see if you hear the fuel pump running. If not, I would check the fuel pump relay. Thats what it sounds like.
A crank sensor would usually give you starting trouble all the time, and the tachometer would bounce up and down.

See if there is a fuse related to engine management system. This could cut power to the coils or other engine management related functions.

I have only worked on 850s and 960s but this is what I would look at first.

Keep us posted.
