2003 xc90 tubos bad tubos

Hello my 2003 xc90 just recently quit running. My wife and I were on a road trip and the cooling fan started running constantly so we pulled over and got gas. We never shut it off because we thought it might not turn back on and we would be stuck, so then the temp gauge suddenly quit working, then the check engine light cam on so we found the nearest shop and turned it off. The shop mechanic checked the codes and said it was codes dealing with the turbos. I did not get the codes from him but he said their was ten of them. the car would not turn over and start again. Now for some history, we had the car for about seven months and on day about a week ago at work my wife needed to leave, and the car would not start. so I came over and turned the key over for about 10 to 15 sec. it then sputterd back to life and puffed out a little white smoke and ran fine till that night then it went into limp mode and would not accelerate vary fast, this only lasted for a block then it started running fine. this lasted for about a week. This whole time the check engine light never came on, then the road trip problem happen, and here we are. the car has 90,000 miles on it and was told the turbos went bad what do you guys think????
