850 GLE Charging Problem

Post by poroman »

94 model 850 GLE Auto

Put a new battery in but in a short time the power has been drained out
of the battery. I have replaced the battery but something is still draining
the power out of it. So its not charging....

What do you think is the answer and things to look at to make I replace
what is causing the problem.

I'm not sure what the local situation is in Brisbane but we can go to any local auto parts store and they will test the battery and the alternator for free. They, of course, want to sell you a new battery or alternator in the process.

Your problem sounds to me more like a parasitic drain. The most common problem with a parasitic drain is the glove box light not turning off. To test that theory just remove the light and see if things change. Beyond that you need to use an ammeter and start pulling fuses to find the source.

I am jealous, I wish it had just turned summer here.

Armed with an ice scraper and ready to go.

Perform a voltage drop test to see if you have charging problems or parasitic drain.

I have been meaning to check my glovebox light forever now and haven't. I saw this, and it happens to be dark out right now...and guess what? my light was on.

Then while messing around...I found a folded up piece of paper with tape on it that had fallen off. Put it back in place...problem solved. Thanks for reminding me Lee!!!!!!

they make 1/8" sticky pads to go under furniture. A small piece of that might stay in position better
