S80 sputtering, won't accelerate

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Yes, rutinely it shakes, but after the maintainance, the idle stays at 1500rpm. The spark seems to be covered by big cover, I need to unscrew the nuts and unplug them?
Thanks.

Hi!
I am new Volvo owner and to this forum. Maybe I could help you. I used to own an Audi and similar thing happened to it. It was the coil pack which caused the cylinder to misfire and the car to shake also wouldn't accelerate. You still can drive it to mechanic, the only thing your car will consume more petrol. But that's OK. It's better you change all of them in the same time although not all of them are bad unless they are really good still. You can save money by changing the bad ones.
Hope this help.

Cheers

Hi folks,

Thanks for all your help and advices, I checked all the ignites and coil today, but nothing is wrong, so I went to volvo dealership for a diagnosis for 100 bucks. The result shows that the defective/shorted electronic throttle module, the estimate is about $810 for part and $200 for a 3.5 hrs labor. But when I was checking online the electronic throttle module only ~$100, the throttl body is about $500-600, anybody has any clue on that? what's the difference?

Any suggestions on the good retail store to purchase one?

Thanks

Did they tell you the specific code #? Get your existing ETM rebuilt by Xemodex. A dealer replacement will have the same critical design flaw which is common to these early Magnetti Marelli ETMs.

If you purchase a new ETM, or even pull one from a boneyard, it will need to be "married" to the network in the car before you can use it. This of course is a dealer only thing.

Can you post the links of what you have been looking at?

'99 S80 T6 (Medusa) 214k. On borrowed time LOL
