arb bushes

Post by fearlesspierre »

Chaps,

I have a year 2000 (V reg) Volvo S40 1.8 auto XS thats done 46 thousand miles and after a bit of investigative work I've discovered that it needs new Anti Roll Bar bushes.

I understand that to do the job requires the front sub frame and engine lowering (or at least moving) to get at the bush retaining bolts. Now I wondered if there is a 'cheat' to do the job without all this extra work? I'm guessing, but a Volvo garage is likely to charge me £300 for the labour involved for a replacement part that may cost me £25.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

The attached shows how it is done. I don't know of any 'cheat'. I do know it isn't necessary to go to a dealer for this job. Any competent mechanic can do it, especially if he has the instructions. We never advise going to a dealer unless there is specialist equipment needed that can only be found at the dealer.
