I have a 2005 US V70 75,000miles and the message center is showing the "miles til empty" climbing and the fuel gauge reading full. I put 17.73 gallons in and still reading full. I haven't done any work besides lube and filter. My other concern is if I pull the sender how are Volvo fuel pumps? In your opinion should I bite the bullet and install one? BTW can I do it without dropping the tank?
Thanks in advance.

Fuel pump has nothing to do with the fuel sender.
Try to get close to the top of the tank next to the fuel sender (if possible) and give it a tap with a hammer (seriously) it may just be stuck

The fuel sender should be under the back seat. Pull up the seat, unfold the carpet and u'll see a round plate - access window- w/ 4 10 mm bolts. U don't have to pull d tank down.
Thanks I give it a try. I work on trucks and usually if pulling the sender the pump is right there. This is great news. I think I found a great site here and hope to be able to help someone else in the future. I post what I find.
Thanx

Hi Jack,
Can I ask you if you had your fuel gauge issue sorted out ?
I've got an '06 S80 with a similar problem. My local Volvo garage here in UK have just called and said they will charge me at least $400 to have it sorted.
Cheers
Carsten

I have accessed the tank by doing above. What is the next step to correct fault by examining or replacing. Do I need any special tools or is an experts job.igel513 wrote:The fuel sender should be under the back seat.
