Here's my question for the experts. I bought a 96 850 turbo wagon that needed turbo work. I had it rebuilt and the rebuild didn't hold. I returned it to the rebuilder and haven't seen it in months, he won't return phone calls, etc. I'm tired of looking at the car up on ramps in the driveway. My parts supplier can get me a new T5 turbo for under $800 outright, the proper T4? is almost $900 plus $250 for the core, which I don't have. What are the possiblities and pitfalls of the T5 turbo, will it bolt in? If so what other changes need to be made? Other suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Some turbo's are straight flanged while others are bent flanged coming off the turbo. Make sure you get the right one or you'll have to manufacture or buy a downpipe for it if you get it wrong. Some people however prefer to do that and live with that. Good luck.
