Yes.
To actually get more peak power, you'll need some dyno time to adjust, measure, adjust, measure, as any power gain won't be signifigant enough for the ass-dyno to measure.

You can also adjust cam timing to move the powerband around in the rev range, within reason. I'm running a K cam a few degrees in advance to move the powerband down a bit, as I'm not super anxious to wind my tired B21 past 6K anymore.

You can get an adjustable cam gear from iPD, and Dale Walmsley (245gti on turbobricks) sells semi-adjustable gears that give you advance or retard in set increments. If you lurk around for a while, a used MVP or iPD one might become available.

Thank you for the great reply...it does clear my doubt. Actually I have a 850 and trying to get a max power band in the lower to mid range area. I'm not into the 5000 to 6000rpm's.
Just to confirm do I need to invrease both cam timing or just the intake.I've tried the intake bout 3deg adv and exhaust 0 quite good but at 5000rpm the engine is like a rocket to 6500rpm.
would appreciate much your help on this and small hop ups or tuning just to have the extra power.
Thank you again

Step by step:
-Strap it to a dyno.
-Make a baseline run.
-Adjust cams.
-Run, record power output.
-Repeat.

If you want to do it the ghetto way, just adjust and use the butt-dyno.

Slater over on VolvoSpeed has made a "wheel" that you slip over the cam shaft to set the timing. You might want to check it out: http://volvospeed.com/vs_forum/index.ph ... opic=33956

You have to PM Slater on VS. He sends detailed instructions along with optimal settings for both the turbo and N/A engines. What octane fuel are you running? You shouldn't be knocking; detonation kills rods on these cars.
