Location of thermostat T6 engine
Re: Location of thermostat.
Has anyone figured out how to remove the elbow connector from the thermostat nipple? This seems to be the hardest thing and I dont want to break it because that means new thermostat?!?!?!
Well since I broke the 90 degree plastic fitting and decided that since this seems to be a part that if I put the plastic 90 back o n there is a high probability that I will break it again in the future. So last night while out in the shop drinking some beer I decided to go ahead and drill out the remaing plastic and see how Volvo attached the 90. Well found out they actually tapped the housing and screwed the 90 in so here is my fix. I might have to shave the edges of the 90 a little but this should work out pretty well. Let me know what you guys and gals think.
I've called around and can't find anyone that knows about a repairt kit. They're all telling me I have to replace the t-stat housing. Volvodoc do you know of a part number?
65fish, How's yours working out? Did you need to trim or mod anything else? Any other details would be a big help for me.
Thanks guys

It actually worked out great. I replaced the hose with a standard high pressure 3/8 line and put hose clamps on both ends. I also had to elnarge the hole in the timing belt cover a little and angle it so the hose does not rub. Put about 500 miles on it all is good no leaks. I also used Red loktite on the 90 to ensure that it never moves. I will get some pics of the finished product tonight. I actuall had to put the hose on the 90 tighten up the hose clamp then feed the line through the timming belt cover. That was about the only issue i had. Nice cheap fix
