My '98 V70 was manufacturer in 1997. Should I call to see if my car is affected?

I got three of them in the mail yesterday. They only applied to the 850s but I will ask about the S70 while I am there.

Twice actually - once for heated seats and now for gas tank.

I think they use the state's registration records - but I'm not sure.
Same here. Volvo found me. I'm taking mine in on thursday. My car has had the raw smell on startup for a little while now so hopefully this will take care of it without me having to do any troubleshooting.

So is Volvo doing this work for free and/or part of a recall? I've never gotten a notice for my '94 850, but I know it's spent it's entire life in Arizona, and I have gotten a gas odor from time to time, and found that I can't fill my tank all the way up, or I end up loosing about a gallon on the ground immediately after filling, lol. This started very shortly after I replaced the fuel pump, so I just assumed (yeah, I know :P) that I fubared one of the "quick" release clamps on the fuel lines going into the pump. It's been on the list of things to check, but the blown trans has kind of taken precedence, lol.

Update - I just got off the phone with my local dealer who informed me that my car is in fact subject to the recall, and that unlike the domestic car manufacturers who put a time limit on recalls, Volvo never puts an expiration date on a recall. I do have to make an appointment to drop the car off, and he said he would want to make sure the parts are in stock before I bring the car in, just in case. I forgot to ask about the seat heater recall as well, but I'll do that when I make the appointment for the fuel tank. That will likely still be a week or two out, as I have to get the engine/trans back in the car before I can bring it down there, lol.

I tell ya, if I'm ever in a financial position to buy a new car, it will be a Volvo, no question. Not that I don't love my 850, but the service I've gotten from this dealer and Volvo, as well as what I've seen other people get from Volvo in general, has been absolutely stellar especially in comparison to what I've had to deal with in the past from Ford/GM/Chrysler. It's too bad Volvo doesn't make a 3/4 or 1 ton pickup that I could use as a tow rig...I could have a driveway full of nothing but Volvos, and I would be one happy camper :)

Has any one found out of this recall affects early model 98v70s as well? My car was manufactured in '97. I find when starting the car after sitting for a while there is a gasoline smell the odd time.

davvver, I'm not sure about your question but I was told at the Volvo dealer in that there is a ten year limitation on recalls in Canada. Maybe he just didn't want to help me out.

I called a different dealer today and made an appointment to get this recall done. There is no time limitation and I'll be sure to call the other dealer on this as it was simply not true.
