Looked at a 2006 XC70 Ocean Edition over the weekend as our 2001 T5 is getting tired. Everything was great but it had the "anti-skid service required"...so I told them to take it to the Volvo Dealer down the street and call me when they have it fixed and I want to know what was to blame. It's a good deal so as long as they don't have to put out $3000 on on diff electronics or such...I noted it also have the dynamic suspension system.
I've now found a 2007 for a fair price in our area along with 101 older ones and none of them have DTSC. The more I think about it since I most of my DIY do I want to avoid the complex DTSC system as well as the dynamic suspension? Have they been prone to failures? Have the same anti-skid concerns been pretty regular with basic XC70?
Any opinion from those who have experience would be helpful. Even after they fix the anti-skid concern, I'm thinking I may want to stay away from this ride as I know they don't always nail the anti-skid on the first try from some posts I've seen!

When I had my Volvo S60R, it had the DTSC and the dynamic suspension. Honestly, having the DTSC was nice but the active suspension was a nightmare. The shocks alone go for 400 buck each and when they go, you can replace them yourself, but then that car has to go to the dealer to have the computer re-calibrated. Otherwise, you will get the anti-skid off message you are getting.
great point, what mileage did you shocks go at? Did you replace single, pairs or all?
Was DTSC a rare options? Only on XC70 for roll over control... I'm amazed how many (XC70 from 04-07) we have looked at that do not have any button relating to it on the center console although our 2001 T5 had the DTC button. I figured more had the DTSC...
Thanks for the input, very helpful in our considerations.

ALL 07 Volvos have DSTC as standard otherwise most XCs have standard STC

This transmission does do this to an extent for the reason stated above.
If you feel it's too long the first thing to do would be a fluid change
Depending on your mileage either a full flush (under 75,000 miles) or three (3) simple drain and fills

Maybe you could clarify something for me then. Can they have DSTC or STC for that matter and not have a on/off switch for them on the center console? for example this 2007 we are looking at doesn't show any switch for DSTC but you state they all have this functionality.JRL wrote:ALL 07 Volvos have DSTC as standard otherwise most XCs have standard STC
As noted our 2001 T5 has STC with an on/off switch but almost NONE of the XC70 from 04-07 show either option...so I"m a bit confused if it's there simply without and on/off.
