Just purchased a 2000 V70. The locks were working fine, and then today I go to unlock it with the remote and it won't unlock the drivers door. Sometimes the passenger or rear doors will unlock but not consistently. Every time I try with the remote or with the key in the driver's side door you can hear the locks trying to go up, but sometimes they won't...
I read somewhere on here to lock and unlock multiple times with the key in the driver's side door, but that hasn't help any.
Any other ideas. Thanks for any help.

If one lock failed, you need a new door lock-actuator, if they're ALL failing, you have a bigger issue (and I have no idea what it could be)

I have a 98 v70"R, with chronic remote door locking issues...sometimes it work and then a second later it doesn't...repeated pressing of the fob usually works...Also, I have weak door actuators so when its hot out the pass. side locks don't work. I replaced the drivers side rear door actuator for that reason and now it works.
My problem is the necessity to repeatedly pushing the fob to open the doors or sometimes the fob does not work the actuators at all. Over the past year it has gotten worse.
Since it's chronic, I suspected a weak soldier joint in the central control moduley because I've fixed the abs and cruise control modules by resoldiering the exterior plug to circuit board joints. ( that's why I was searching for it today)
But, I couldn't find the Central Control Module? ...I've looked for the central control module located behind the glove box and up under the rear view mirror...not there?..

Your car doesn't' have a CEM, only the P1 and P2 cars ('99- S80, '01- V70, '05- C70, S60, etc.) have one. Assuming that you've changed the battery on the remote, it's possible that either the VGLA module isn't supplying sufficient voltage to the lock actuators, or you simply have old actuators and need new lock modules. It's also possible that there's interference in the 314MHz band, keeping the lock controller from hearing your remote.georgegrimm wrote:But, I couldn't find the Central Control Module? ...I've looked for the central control module located behind the glove box and up under the rear view mirror...not there?..

If I can hear the locks trying to lock/unlock it doesn't seem like it could be interference, so how do I check if the VGLA module (I don't even know what that is) is supplying sufficient voltage? I am a complete amateur so the more details the better.VCA wrote: Assuming that you've changed the battery on the remote, it's possible that either the VGLA module isn't supplying sufficient voltage to the lock actuators, or you simply have old actuators and need new lock modules. Like other posts I would suggest you check the drivers door actuator. The logic is that that door is used the most and controls the rest.
If the system is working with the key then that most likely means your remote system is intact.
If it works with the FOB sometimes and not other times, it means you do not have to re-program the FOB.
If your back doors are not sticking and you can open them from the inside (with child guards off) then it would mean that you do not have another common 70 series problem.
Chances are you might need a new door actuator assembly.

The condition of the drivers lock motor should not affect the others.
It's only a motor in there for the actuator. And the drivers lock motor
is on a seperate output at the lock module for the 1/2 button push system.
You may just have a complete batch of bad door latch units.
Take the remote out of the equation - how do they work with the switches?
And as for the fob being on again, off again, do you have another?
If they're BOTH hinky, I agree that RF interference can get ya.
I worked on a 400 mhz system once that worked from one spot,
but if you stepped 2 feet either way, it didn't. It was RF from a
TV transmitter on a nearby building. So - find a big open area
and try it there.

Now all locks are working consistently except the drivers door so I think I will be getting a new actuator. Thanks for the help.
