1998 volvo v70 hatch wont open

1998 volvo v70 hatch wont open

my hatch wont open if I click the release it makes the noises just nothing happen? key doesnt work, and cant seam to see whats wrong by taking the panel off that goes to it any ideas?

When you have the panel off, can you see anything moving when you press the buttons on the remote?

could you not use the internal lock or levers to open it?

tyipcally disconnected solenoid...sounds like the case here.

If that is the case, easy fix being he was able to get the panel off. Let us know how you make out aimylynn1982.

One thing that worked a long time for me was to push the door hard forward at the same time I was pulling the release. That began working only sometime, but got better after I lubed the catch when I had it open.

As someone pushes the release button,try pulling up on the trunk at the same time. See if you can get it open that way. I had an issue like this and once . Once opened I sprayed white lithium grease into the mechanism and got the all lubed up and it has worked fine since then.

it's possible that one of the struts/springs may be out or discharged. if you click it, can you then open it from the back if you pull it up?
