My wifes 05 XC90 2.5T all of the sudden started a rough idle, vibration and loss of power. The idle is also very low. Runs better at higher RPMs but still has a problem. The check engine light blinks and the only other time it ever came on before was a lose gas cap. I have seen post here say that the codes are misfires but I cannot see multiple plugs going the same day and add high RPMs it does not vibrate , spit, or cut out. Please help if you can. Some also said a throttle positioning sensor, does that sound like a possibility.
I did notice one thing under the hood. There is a curved plastic pipe that is connected to the top cover at the immediate left of the oil fill cap. Where that elbow pipe is connected to the cover it has disintegrated and broken off. It shoots what looks like exhaust out of it now that the pipe is broken off, could this cause the idling and power problem. Thanks so much to anyonethat can help, big trip coming at the end of the week.

My wife's volvo is doing the same thing. It all started from the last car wash. Did changing the vacuum hose solve your problem?

I have these same symptoms on my 2002 v70 - Loss of power, blinking check engine light, and very rough idle and rough low speeds. And on top of it, much of this started the same day we had the car washed.
Would be interested if this was ever solved.

Ok so I saw this problem but I didnt see a solution to it, I just had this happen to my 2003 V70 Wagon, I took it to the shop and after the plugged the car in and read the codes, one of the Ignition Coils on one of the cylinders was bad. They also replaced the spark plugs at the same time and the car works fine. My problem was the car was idling rough, the engine light came on, and I limped home at around 20 MPH. Heres the part
