1997 volvo 850 maf numbers

Post by lttrcrrr95 »

Hello, My 1997 volvo 850 non-turbo shows code p0103. Figure it is maf. A volvo shop gave me one to try just internal part from housing # 0280217002. When I pulled mine out it is #665231A. Are they the same can't find information. Everyone is closed to call. Commuter car, dont want to the one from shop if it is going to cause more problems. Thanks, Bill

Do they physically look the same? Some parts were superseded over the years.

If they look the same, try it out. The DENSO sensors used on some models will definitely appear different.

Try it out; see what happens. Nothing's going to blow up. Any sensor from a 1993-1998 Volvo is the same.

Ignore the check engine light for now; see if it runs better first. If it does, you can pull off the negative battery cable, go touch the brake pedal a few times to drain the charge, and then reconnect it. Keep in mind the car will go through a "re-learning" phase for a while where idle will hunt around after you come to a stop. It will learn quickly and stabilize.

I decided not to try other one . IPDUSA said they were not interchangeable. I cleaned mine really good, seems to run better. Until I can get a backup. Mine is original maf from 1997. 200000+ miles. odometer is been out for a while.
