1986 245 Turn Indicators Not Working
1986 245 Turn Indicators Not Working
Some time ago, the turn indicators on my other Volvo wagon stopped working; however, the emergency flashers do work fine. Is there a separate flasher unit for the turn indicators? Is it possible the switch is bad? Should I be looking at something else?

Turn indicators and hazard lights work off the same flasher relay which, on the '86 240, is on the front left side of the centre console.
It is not unusual for the indicators to stop and the hazard lights carry on working or vice versa.
Bill.

Check your signal bulbs. Check out the contacts, and any broken clips.
You can pull the switch from the steering column, and test it with a volt meter. You will need the wiring diagram to notice when the switch is working properly.

Although this is months late, thank you lindy8_man for the idea; I appreciate it. I have not been on the site lately due to my schedule and have not been driving the car either, but I will investigate further what might be causing the issue. Have a great weekend!
