2000 V70 Flashing arrow but no codes

Post by baylorbrown »

A couple days ago the flashing arrow started. The car is driving fine, but I don't want to screw things up by continuing to drive it. I took it to Autozone and they said there were no codes. I then went to a mechanic and they ran it on 2 different OBD II devices and no codes came up again. I have tried to reset the warning lights by holding down the odometer reset button and by shifting from Park to L quickly. Neither worked... does anyone have any other ideas about what could be wrong or how to reset the warning lights?

Thanks for any help.

Ryan

Why on Earth would you hold the odometer reset?
Anyhow
How many times did you row the shifter? You need to do it about 15-20 times
If that doesn't clear it you need to take it to Volvo
You WILL have stored codes but only VIDA can read them

Yes, rowing the shifter 10-20 times should work. Other than the light, you haven't noticed anything with the car's shifting or performance?

I have tried rowing the shifter 20-30 times and it hasn't cleared the light.
It has been driving fine, no rough shifting or high rpm revving.

Can't figure it out??

Well, something's going on and I suggest you get the stored code pulled at Volvo
You could be doing irreperable damage to your transmission by continuing to drive it

Standard OBDII scanners cannot pull transmission codes. Those must be read by a Volvo scanner.

Drove it today for about 30 minutes (was planning on going to the dealer tomorrow) the arrow flashed the whole way. When I got back in to go home, it was no longer flashing. Should I still take it to the dealer tomorrow?

I'd say getting the code pulled would help my peace-of-mind. Usually that arrow will only flash for something serious.
