2005 S40i 2.4l Timing belt positioning

Hello all, I was hoping someone could help me figure out the timing belt or cam positions on this engine. My friend is actually working on my car and can't find a suitable answer for this question. I read somewhere there are marks on the pully and a mark on the plastic cover. But he doesn't seem to b happy with that answer. something about looks like someone maybe painted a mark on the the pully or the cover and he doesn't trust it.

Please, if anyone could help me out with this I'd greatly appreciate it!

Why does he not like that information?
