S60 Lw Beam Hedlight bulbs

I have a 2006 S60 AWD and received the "Bulb Out Low Beam" Message last week. I obtained a NON-HID bulb and a mechanic friend replaced it. Today it burned out again. Last time the mechanic stated that the bulb looked like a high beam bulb but he replaced it anyway. I should also mention that after the message first came on, there was a day or two after I cycled the headlight switch that the alarm went away. It did come back and we replaced the bulb.

My question, has anyone out there had trouble with burning out headlight bulbs? If so what is the fix? I am going to try another bulb before resigning myself to an egg hunt by the local Volvo specialist.

Any insight is appreaciated.

See the reply to my question on this very subject about a week ago. I have yet to buy the replacement plug kit but plan to do so next.
