Electrical Problems...

Post by Dethsman »

I have a 1979 DL245 Wagon. When the key is in the "on" position, all the electrical systems will work (wipers, radio, backup lights) yet when the engine is running they will not work. THe lights still work however. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

With the engine running try slightly tweeking the ignition key. It might be just a short in the ignition system. It is with my 81 240.

Very common problem, when you start the car and release the key it does not fully return to the "run" position. To fix just rotate the key slightly counter clockwise ... just a bit. Try putting a little graphite into the key slot for lubrication but it is usually the ignition switch that is sticking and may have to be replaced
