Wiper Pump Front - No juice!

Post by TeamRPMT »

First - Thanks Matthew for this fantastic service!

I have a '94 850 Wagon and have been trying to restore the flow of cleaner to my front wipers. I have checked all the valves (soaked them in vinegar to remove deposits, cleaned them up, and after verifying that they were in working order, reinstalled). I have also checked all the lines that I can find. I can hear the pump running. I would like to remove the pump, inspect it, and see it operate outside the reservoir. Do I have to drop the reservoir to do this?

The valve under the hood that is supposed to keep the fluid from draining backwards... It seems to be working, but if not, would it prevent flow to the hood or only make the response time longer (wear on the pump)?

Any suggestions would be appreciated! 8)
Thanks,

Stump

Look under the liner under the hood for leaks. Other than this your pump motor might just be weak and need replacing. Not sure if the whole resevoir has to come out or not to do this, but I suspect it would be easier to work on if it did. Good luck.
