No AWD on a AWD

Post by hitopred »

Just bought a 1998 volvo v70 xc awd. But the awd is not an awd. Someone took out the drive shaft. Should I keep it a two wd or try to put it back to awd. Problem is MONEY. Anybody know what I shoud do?

There is a possibility there is a reason the prop shaft was pulled. The range is all that was wrong was mid bearing on prop shaft and nothing is wrong with any of the rest of the AWD hardware to the angle gear and viscous coupling are trashed.
A good Volvo shop should be able to give you an opinion on the other stuff under there. The driveshafts are available from coloradodriveshaft.com for about $500 shipped but the lack of a core is going to put the price up higher.
