I just bought a 2004 S40 with 52,000 miles on it. Got a pretty good deal on it but it came with several minor problems. My main concern in the AC. The AC will run for about 5 minutes and then the air will start getting warm. If I turn the air off for a couple minutes and then turn it back on it will run cool for another 5 minutes then shut off. The AC may need charged but I feel if that was the case I wouldn't get any cold air at all. I've also had problems locating the pressure gauge to test the free-on. If anyone could help that would be great!

Look around for "clutch gap" on here using search. You are describing the symptoms exactly.
Is your s40 the 4 cylinder model (1 st generation) or the 5 cylinder? Both were 2004 models with the 5 cylinder coming out late as a 2004 1/2 model.

It's the 2.4 i, 5 cylinder
