kickdown switch

ok guys i got the code saying my kickdown switch is bad will this cause my car to die????while driveing?? and i will have to start in (n)??? thanks

Nothing to do with it; but it's probably from a broken boot at the firewall where the throttle cable comes through, and the signal isn't agreeing with what the throttle position sensor says.

If you flip into "sport" mode and stab the gas, it will still drop down the 2 gears you need for passing power.

thanks im just trying to figure out why my car dies then i will have to let cool down to start and i will still have to start in (n)??any ideas??? ig got the codes 1-4-3,4-4-4,and 2-4-1.i just bought the car maybe 4 monthes ago.

What port is the 4-4-4 from? I don't see that one listed as a code in the charts.

1-4-3 is a front knock sensor signal, and 2-4-1 is an EGR flow issue from a blocked port into the throttle body.

I'd clear everything and clean the EGR as below and see what comes back. But I doubt any of these issues is causing the car just to cut off.

Did you try the fuel pump relay jumper trick I mentioned in an earlier thread?

So it will start in neutral, but not in Park? Does the starter TURN in park, or it just does nothing?

it starts in (n) but it just cranks in park..people been telling my it might be the brain..which i think is the computer too meaning the same thing.?and some people tell me its the fuel pump i have no clue i love this car i just want it fixed!!!!!

I think it's just coincidence that it'll start in N if the starter is still going in Park. The shift-position switch has nothing to do with whether the engine will fire as long as the starter's turning.
