99 V70xc Axle Question

Post by Volvoagain »

Miles: 181,733

I jacked up the front end last night so i could change out the rotors/ Pads (My annual Brake service)
All went smooth as usual but when i was coming back from my spin around the block i noticed a clicking sound from the left front wheel area....and when i stopped in the driveway i had some smoke coming from the wheel area. Its not brake related, looks like the axle may have popped out of the transmission and leaked a little fluid?
Seems to have stopped but now i have a consistant clicking sound that changes with speed (Sounds like a baseball card in a bicycle wheel spokes)
Normal or a usual Volvo occurrence to have an axle do this? and go back in? Im guessing its time to replace it, was planning on doing it anyway soon...
Side note: went back to Volvo Rotors, normally use Brembo, ATE, etc. Much thicker, very little tolerance at the caliper bracket as opposed to others listed. Also using Volvo pads on this round...
Seems like over the last few years i get pulsation after about 8-10 months

No, this is not normal and it does sound like it needs to be replaced.
