map sensor/Problem w/check engine light

Does anyone know why after replacing map sensor the check engine light continues to come on. Returned to mechanic and get run around. Also, after he put new map on 1 yr ago. (I've been back to him at least 6 times ) trying to get check engine light fixed.. After he put new map sensor on... 80 % of the time after turning car off the sound of a humming stop humming stop sound comes out of the engine for about 3 minutes.. ??? Any Help w/ be appreciate. check engine light comes on for a million reasons.
You need to have the specific code that is triggering the light. If you have been back to the mechanic 6 times for the same problem, then is time to find yourself another mechanic.

Also, invest some money and get yourself a good code reader so you are not at the mercy of unscrupulous mechanics.

The code is PO106 which stands for MAP sensor
