The front brakes on my '00 V70XC seem like they're always on a little. The front rotors show signs of wear, while the rears look brand new (they were all replaced at the same time by the previous owner). I've had the front passenger caliper off, and it compressed very easily.
Occasionally I get a grinding and clunking noise from the brakes when slowing down for a stop light, and it keeps up until around 15 mph. It makes me think the calipers are hanging up, but I've never had a malfunctioning caliper that compressed easily. It also seems odd that both sides have identical wear.
The ABS and TRACS lights are on, so could that have something to do with it?

Your front brakes do most of the work...that's why they always wear faster than the rears.
The grinding noise...is it metal on metal grinding? If your ABS and TRACS lights are on, it shouldn't be the ABS pump making that noise.
