Re: High idle, white smoke
Your throttle cable may be slightly out of adjustment. Pull off the black cover over the IAC valve and hold the throttle wheel closed with your hand. Does the idle drop to normal? If so, you can just adjust the screw a little bit.

Ya Iv'e checked that. I adjusted the screw so the contact point closes with a tiny bit of slack. It actually had too much slack at first, deleying throttle response. Thank you for replying.
I did, however, find a large vacuum leak that I fixed which seemed to help the problem. Its only been a few days and the problem was intermittent, so it will take more time for me to be sure.

The vacuum leak was definately the problem, the car is running normally now.

I'm guessing it was a hose or an elbow causing the problem - which one?

The small valve inside the airbox that controls the hot/cold intake flap had failed somehow
and was allowing air from the airbox to bypass the MAF into the vacuum tree.
After removing the entire system, plugging the vacuum tree and sealing the holes in the air box,
the idle returned to normal.
One of the caps on the vacuum tree was also leaking.
Part of the problem was my running a 2000 watt sound system in the vehicle.
When pushing the system, it would actually affect the idle until the vehicle was shut off.
After cleaning up a lot of the electrical connections and getting a new battery clamp, that
problem was also solved.
