I did place marks on the crank and on the cam sprockets. The problem now is that the groove on the intake is not properly parallel with the seam after two(2) rotations of the crankshaft.
If you can't make out the picture, it appears to be off by more than 10 degrees.
How can I adjust it to be perfectly aligned/timed. Thanks for reading.

If you rotated it by hand and felt no resistance you are probably still ok.
Remove the cam covers and realign. If they were aligned when you replaced the belt then look for a pulley or tensioner that is loose or not doing its job. Please post a pic of both cams

Thanks for the pic
It looks like there was slack in the cam belt, on the (intake) side between the cams and the crank at time of tensioning.
Where is the tensioner pointer now? Is it off to the left of the normal range?
Please post a pic of the tensioner. Then reset the belt to the right marks on the cams and crank. Then set the tensioner. Then move the crank clockwise a little. You will notice the tensioner will be pointing to the left again. Reset the tensioner while the belt is now very tight on the intake side.
Then do 2 more crank rotations. The cam marks, crank marks and tensioner will all be in the right spots when you are done.
If you have any running problems after you are done (doubtful as you didn't feel a valve hit a piston) then do a compression test and report back your findings.

Not sure why this post is in here - there is no reason to remove the cam cover right? Maybe you meant the timing belt cover.JDS60R wrote:If you rotated it by hand and felt no resistance you are probably still ok.

Looks like the intake is off by one tooth. So you need to
- remove tensioner, compress it carefully
- align cams properly
- replace tensioner
- turn 2 rotations make sure still aligned

Thanks - my mistake
Yes - I meant the plastic cam belt covers on the side of the motor and not the upper portion of the head that secures the cams to the lower portion of the head.
