How to REMOVE Air Filter Housing to replace "buffer"

While my sweetie was dealing with the battery on my 2000 V70 XC he found a chunk of rubber between the battery and the air filter housing. (NOT the cabin air filter!)

I cleaned it up and researched the part # (1336404) -- it is called a "buffer" and it's supposed to go between the air filter housing and the side of the engine compartment.

How to I remove the air filter housing so I can get this buffer part back in? I know how to change the filter, but this is something different, and I couldn't find it on the site anywhere.

If it is like the 850, the air filter housing just lifts out.

Once you take out the cover, air filter if you want to, and remove any hoses attached (keep track of where they go), there are 4 little expanding posts that snap through holes in the housing. They are around the outside of the filter housing. You can pinch them together with a small socket like maybe 10 mm, or just pull up sharply the housing will dislodge from them. There is also a post that sort of braces into the fender well, but it pulls right out of there.

No tools needed. It literally pops right out. If you are leaning above it from the driver side fender, lift straight up about 2" and then pull away from you, towards the engine.
