Reading Codes 850

Post by Gentleman Mac »

Hey, guys. I have finally tried out the obd I on my 95 854 because my check engine light came on over the weekend, went out for a few days, and returned today. The code I got from the A1 port is 322 (wrong gear value). I cleared it, and it hasn't come back on yet. So, several questions:
-Check engine initially came on when I put it in sport mode and drove aggressively in the NC mountains (sat for one day, didn't come back on driving normally the next day). Would that have caused a funky gear value issue? I have had problems with the pnp in the past, but so far have only "quick shifted" it fixed.

-What are the other ports in A for (2-7) and should I be reading them, too?

Thanks.

Yeah, the PNP will cause that code. You need to go in there and rebuild/clean it - ratcheting the shifter back and forth will only work for so long.

A2 and A6 typically store "check engine" light codes.

Here's a full list:
A1 Transmission
B1 Climate Control
A2 Fuel System
B2 Cruise Control
A3 ABS
B5 SRS
A5 TCU (Transmission Control)
B6 Power Seat
A6 Ignition System
A7 Combined Instrument

Great, thanks for the info.
Do you think it's better to clean it or replace it altogether?

Most of the contacts should still be good; just need to be cleaned up.
