Coolant type? Why NOT Dex-cool?

Why do people say not to use GM dex-cool. What doe's it contain that adversly effects volvos? I am just curious because many new aftermarket brands of antifreeze say GM dex-cool approved. Havoline, for example, says it's good for any engine and has additives to help prolong the life of water pump seals. Whats the concensus here?

If memory serves correct, the stuff is very bad about gumming up and is also known to wreak havoc on various gaskets.

The bigger picture is that dex-cool is a GM product and you have a Volvo which is a Ford product. As everybody knows GM junk in a Ford will never work.
