850 Fiasco

Be very cautious when the radiator light comes on. I had a hairline crack in my radiator that only leaked a small amount when I started my 850R Wagon.

While driving from sea level up to teh mountains this crack widened allowing my coolant to leak out. The 850 radiator warning light came on and I shut the engine down, but severe damage had already taken place to the aluminum head and block.

This is very expensive to fix ... be careful.

Its true, the 850 is NOT what it is cracked up to be. As reported in volvo forums the following can happen:-

1) If you jackup the car wrongly, the chassis will be cracked up.

2) If the wheels get stolen and thieves leave your car with bricks, the chassis will be cracked up

3) if you hit pothole hard enough chassis will be cracked up.

If chassis is not cracked up, other parts get cracked up i.e. the radiator.

= the car is too heavy and chassis flex is a problem.

thats why strut brace and roll cage can find an improvement.

if the car is AS GOOD AS ADVERTISED then the strut brace and roll cage will be useless.

I would not be surprised if say one wheel rest on a kerb and three wheels off, you cannot open the car door, anybody care to experiment and report back to us?

When I compare my 850 with my nissan, my nissan can be jacked up along the entire lower chassis without any problem.
