Mike, Read your info on your solenoid replacement and then this thread . I have a 1999 V70XC with trouble with that light on and a diagnostic reading " transmission manufacture defect" and then "Solenoid" but frankly don't know if the reading indicated more specific which solenoid. I ordered the one I found for the transmission from PArtsGeek.com, but then read your mention of S1 and S2. Can't find info on what the OTHER would be and having a hard time figuring out which one I have to give my repairman.
Can anyone help and give insight?
I ordered the Automatic Transmission Solenid shown here (2nd one). Is the first also for the transmission?

As far as I have dug, the three are in the transmission, theres a cover facing the front of the car, kinda underneath the PnP switch
