Car locks "clunk"

Post by catmanor »

Volvo 850 1997, 165K miles

Asking for advice about the clunking noise my door locks have started making when I lock the doors with a key. Only happens if I'm locking all 4 doors...not if only driver's door. Not sure if it's the door or fuel door.

Don't imagine it's pertinent but...recently had brake pads and rotors replaced.

I'm not sure.
I DO know that when I lock my doors (all; by key or remote) there is a loud clunk from all 6 locks.
I just assumed it was a Volvo trait.
I may be wrong.

Appears to be from the Fuel Tank Door...don't know if I should do something or not.

Just lube it up with some WD-40. I had my locking pin seize up on me and wasn't about to spend a ton of money to fix the actuator. Also, the pin may be hitting the fuel door. Something to check at least. Try opening the door and locking. See what is happening.
