You had your chance for input in the moderator lounge! :D :P

(I know you had a hellish time with your TB, and that's a shame. Luck of the draw?)

I put my DIY in my sig line and thank the one who gave the best write-up.
PCV and TB change are pretty close to the same, as long as you don't throw in changing the seals also, with a 14 inch drill  .
Did struts also before joining this forum. I thanks someone higher up on that one. Had no idea what I was doing.

I'll do anything BUT rebuild an engine or transmission. Everything else is nuts, bolts and using your head...and having the right tools.

I have never needed to rebuild a Volvo engine or head. When I first started driving Volvos I got a core engine with the idea of rebuilding at my leisure preparing for what I thought would be the inevitable. It hasn't happened yet. You might ask why was I so concerned about having a spare motor ready. In my past I had another "V" car..... Chevy's Vega. I also had an overly stubborn attitude about making the car last. Rebuilding, decking the block, etc. were regular activities. The car was a superb course in how to repair everything and often!

I have pretty much done everything except body work. Granted I was a tech at a Volvo dealer for a few years and I am currently a tech at a Subaru dealer so I have just about all the tools I need as well as a lift to work on.

I will break and engine down and that the block sent out to be done, but I will not try and bore it myself. It is just better to have a pro do that. I am also with you on the transmission too, but I think I would try it if the car was not a DD.
