Cruise Control 1998 V70XC

My cruise control does not function at all. I've heard this might be a vacuum line under the battery that could be the culprit?
Any insight on this? :?:

That is one of the most common failure points. The brake switch is also a common failure item up under the dash - mine needed a bit of adjusting just to make my shifter work, but I'd start with the line under battery. To get it out, undo the clip and then shove the battery to the side and it will lift out.

It's also worth keeping in mind that if you have a hosed ABS module,
all of your speed signal related equipment will be affected.
Any ABS or TRACS lights? Does your speedo/ODO work?
Just checkin'...

No apparent ABS or TRACS light problems. My speedometer/ODO do work.

In my case, the vacuum was fine but the switch needed adjustment.

My "lazy" way: get a pair of pliers and gently bend the bracket holding the brake switch (the switch with vacuum hose) downward a tiny bit. This fixed my problems.

how does one test the components once you find them.
found and looked at the one under the battery, and then ?
found and looked at the solenoid coming off the throttle, and then?
found and looked at vacuum servo, and then?
