Stalling out after filling tank 94 850

Post by ckrussell »

Vehicle stalls out at takeoff's after filling the tank. I think it may be the evap purge valve but cannot find it. Looked on the radiator where I have seen other mounted and it's not there. I have an identical parts care and looked there as well. My friend has a 97 and it was mounted on the radiator as others have described. Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks

I noticed early on that my '94 would do the same thing but I was used to rounding to the nearest dollar when filling up on my Suburbans. I now let the pump run until it clicks and just quit, the problem went away.

I think what happens is the evap lines get filled with raw gas which in turn gets sucked into the charcoal cannister rather than vapors.

Yeah, I always let it click off when I'm fueling. I've never topped it off. It is running really tough after fueling.

According to these diagrams it doesn't look like the 94 year non-turbo has a purge valve? Is this possible?

I used to have the same problem due to me topping it off when getting gas.

Went and checked my egr valve by blowing into the vacuum line and I could hear what I thought to be the egr valve closing and opening. Also with car running, when I blow into the egr vacuum, the vehicle sputters. When I first cleared out my cel codes I had some Fuel codes come up but they haven't returned. I'm wondering if it's possibly the fuel pressure regulator? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Rule #1...Always start with the simplest solution. Fuel filter swap and running great. I changed it last year and didn't expect it to be a problem already
