trunk opens when doors are opened

Our 2006 S80 has an odd problem. Intermittantly, the trunk lid opens (unlocks) when a passenger door is opened. Usually it occurs when a rear door is opened. The trunk lid lock was replaced, but the problem has persisted. Any thoughts?

Are you sure the remote key fob is not accidentally being pressed? I had done that on mine and accidentally openmed the trunk from the remote.

Other than that it might sound like the central locking funciton in the car is misbehaving.

The rear door locks and the trunk lock are all connected through the same Ream Electronic Module (left side of trunk wall).

There are no shared wires or connections so any problem must be occuring within the REM itself. If the problem occurs only when rear doors are opened then I would guess its a REM problem. If it happens with any door then the central locking logic is confused.

I would check the dealer for a SW upgrade (install charges only - no longer charged for the SW itself from Volvo).

Tell them what is happening and that you suspect the central locking system is faulty and perhaps you need a SW update for the Rear Electronic Module.
