Brake line bleeding
Brake line bleeding
My left rear clipper was hanging up. I decided to replace both rear calipers. Replacement went without a hitch. I did a Manuel blead until I got a stream of Brake fluid the first time with the engine off. My test drive revealed a spongy pedal. The next bleed I performed with the engine running again until I got a stream. Only difference this time was I saw no air in the fluid at the start of the process. Total "bled" fluid amount was about 1/4 pint. The brakes still have a spongy feel. Any suggestions?

Best way is the old way
Have someone inside the car, open the bleeder valve, have them push the pedal to the floor, close bleeder, repeat.
Then go over to the other side and repeat

There are some other posts on this site that have said if the springs are not installed correctly, you will get a spongy feel to the brakes. One member even went and replaced the master cylinder only to find out the springs were not installed correctly.

If you do it the 'old way' make sure you limit the travel of the MC piston by placing a shim under the pedal. It should NEVER be allowed to move beyond its normal displacement position or else you risk damaging the seals.
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
