I changed my radiator this weekend due to a leaking end cap.
Check out what I discovered. This seems like it would only apply to turbo models only. The picture of the whole radiator is orientated with the top towards you and this shows the back of the unit next to the fan. It appears that slight amounts of oil over years (123,000 miles) from the PVC system were deposited on to the back of the radiator buy the charge air input to the intercooler. Foreign material then adhered to the oil and about 1/4 of the surface was blocked. This car had normal boost indications so I never assumed any sort of leak in the system..
It is easy to check for this situation by removing the 4 torx screws on the sides of the radiator near the top and having a look. The deposits were soft and could be cleaned easy.

I'm slowly getting ready to take the motor out of my R so I'll make sure I take a look at this, although the radiator is supposedly new.
