940 wont come out of park
A friend of mine has inherited a 1995 940 volvo, He brought it home a few weeks ago and parked it, he went and started it to move it and it will not come out of park, any info would be helpfull

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.
There is a shift lock to stop the car coming out of P unless the ignition is switched on and the foot brake depressed. Check fuse #4 which covers this.
On the gear selector panel there is a 'Shift Lock Override' button to manually release the shift lock. Turn the ignition to position 1, press the button down and move the lever out of P whilst keeping the button depressed.
