00 S80 Questions about interior rear-view mirror

Hello,
This question is about the interior rear-view mirror in an 00 S80. A short while ago, the image in the mirror became blurred. This week, two images became visible in the mirror a light fixed image and what papers to be a light-yellow and moving bubble. Is this an expected failure in 12 years old car? If so, how could I restore a clear and safe view of the back of my car. I thank you for your comments and suggestions.

Search lava mirror and you will find a large posting regarding this problem. I have a 'prism?' style mirror which I bought off of ebay in case you decide to go that route. i.e. I was able to get a mirror cell from Sybesma's Electronics: http://www.sybesmas.com/home.html therefore I have no use for the 'prism?' mirror.

hi not sure if you completed this procedure, check one of my postings about this , i did it and it works fine cost $40 time, 2 hrs
