6 months ago bought a 1986 740 with all the service records and only 128,000 miles on it. Now I am haveing all kinds of engine problems..
loss of power starting in up, cannot go uphill or if that isnt the problem of the day..at around 55 mph the engine starts bucking and knocking. Also the gas gage and speedometer may or maynot work.
Any thoughts??

when was the last time the cap, rotor, wires, and plugs replaced?
when was the last time the fuel filter was replaced?
in my opinion, right when you buy one of these cars you need to do the above mentioned, it narrows down future problems, regardless of what maintenence record state.
if these things you did, then we can go the next set of trouble shooting?
