Here is an image of the back of the SC-901. Can anyone summarize the various connections on the back?

I've considered doing the USASpec type device, but for a couple hundred more I could have a sweet Pioneer double din DVD player with bluetooth. The problem with a new HU is the factory amps. I don't want to give up any speakers, and I don't want to put in a new amp, either.

So long as that is a female DIN connector, you should be good. Just a heads up, you may have to modify the radio pocket in the dash to get your double din to fit right. There are some recent threads out there on this.

You'll need this set of cables:

You'll have to shave the OEM rails in the HU cavity.
You'll probably have to sink a couple of holes to anchor the new HU's cage.
You may have to make a some adjustments to the new HU's trim ring.
There are two antenna connectors for the 901. You'll only need the big one.
If you have Dolby surround, your center channel will likely be gone.

Looks like the 901 has a few more ports than the 816. One of them might be the standard Alpine CD changer input -- the round one on the right in your photo. If so, you're lucky. My 816 does not have this, but rather a smaller -- second from right in my photo -- port for attaching a CD changer. It reminds me of an ADB port, a port Apple used back in the 1990s. I have an Alpine changer but can't use it without a $100 adaptor.

The cable for this Volvo-only connection appears behind the radio and reappears in the trunk, near the antenna.

No such luck, Matt - That's the Dolby module port.

Thanks to the money grubbin' deal makers in the car industry,
there's a profit based reason that you need a protocol adapter
to use an Alpine labeled changer with an Alpine built Volvo HU.
The car companies want you to buy their "brand" of accessories.

Back in the day, Alpine was all about integrating OEM and aftermarket audio equipment.
They had an entire line of adapters for using their stuff with factory stock stereo gear.
But once they started making bank BUILDING OEM, the attorneys got involved.
Times change...

Still - The SC-901 is a really nice HU !

Starting from the left, two antenna inputs.

Cd changer input?

Two DIN inputs for the amps? Does this mean I need two of the harnesses that I posted?

What is the green input?

How would you label the two large rectangle inputs? Power input and speaker input?

Thanks, again. I want to post a photo with the inputs labeled for future reference, and I want to make sure I label them correctly.

Just one amp cable.

The larger multi-pin DIN is for the add on Dolby Module - not necessary with an aftermarket H/U. The green connector is for the center channel speaker in the dash. The 6 pin DIN is for the amp. The smaller DIN connector is for the CD Changer. The Larger rectangular connector is 12v switched, 12v constant, ground, dash illumination, antenna power feed. Smaller rectangle contains VSS signal for auto volume adjustment.

Attached is a PDF that should help to clear up some of the wiring.

I just bought a 2004 C70 and am quickly becoming an expert on the SC-901. Recently we placed 2 cds in the same slot in the CD magazine and as you guessed it is shot. When I pulled the unit, I noticed that I have a CD changer cable plugged into the Head Unit. I have not been able to locate a CD player.]

Does the V70 come prewired for a multi-disk cd changer?
