Bad motor mounts are fixed but i still have a noise-->

Post by my02xcsp »

Sounds a little like a bad wheel bearing but cornering left or right doesnt seem to change the sound also i couldnt feel any play in the wheel bearings. Any ideas??

Propshaft still in? Is it definitely coming from the front of the car, or somewhere around the shifter area?

yes prop shaft is still in the car. Today i was clipping along on a curvy road and i did notice the noise was louder going around left hand turns so maybe it is a wheel bearing. ill jack it up and give the wheels a tug to see if there is any play.

also it does seem to be coming from the front of the car. you can feel it on your feet a little bit. kind of a wawawawa sound and a light vibration.

I just checked the front wheels and there is no play in the wheel bearing. i supposed that doesnt mean i have one going bad it just may not be worn to the point you can feel the play.

Ill have to try the youtube video. Im not sure the sound will record because its not really that loud yet. i will give it a shot though.

I had a bad one and there was no play (since these are sealed units).

If it goes away during a hard swerve to one side, it is a wheel bearing for sure.

Have you changed the mount by the timing belt ? I had a failure that sounded exactly as you describe turned out the mount had completely failed so the engine was sitting on the subframe.
